Police say two men have received a slice of justice following a raft of burglaries.
“Yesterday, police executed two search warrants at properties in Papakura and two people were taken into custody,” says senior sergeant Simon Cornish from Counties Manukau East Police.
Police had been busy piecing together a number of burglaries in southeast Auckland and made a breakthrough earlier this week.
Cornish says officers were investigating a burglary at a popular eatery on Cook Street in July, which led to the discovery of a further six burglaries all with similarities.
“The team has trawled through hours of CCTV and made several enquiries in relation to these incidents.
While enquiries continue into the pair’s alleged offending, police estimate they’ve stolen thousands of dollars’ worth of property, Cornish says.
“These incidents have had a real impact on local businesses,” he says.
“It’s great to deliver a positive resolution and hope it provides some reassurance to the community that we will continue to hold people to account for their actions.”
Two men, aged 45 and 53, will appear in the Manukau District Court on September 16 charged with seven counts of burglary.
Police continue to encourage anyone who witnesses suspicious behaviour, or who has information that may assist ongoing investigations, to contact police on 105.
