Police are responding to an unfolding serious incident in south Auckland this afternoon (August 27).
Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers, of Counties Manukau Police’s criminal investigation branch, says at about 1.45pm emergency services responded to reports of a woman unresponsive at an address in Wattle Downs.
“Sadly, she was pronounced dead at the scene. During a search of the property police have located a man who was also pronounced deceased,” he says.
“Cordons are in place at Mahia Road and schools in the immediate area were advised to lockdown. Police advise all members of the public to avoid the area. Further information will be released once it becomes available.”
Just before 2.30pm, Leabank Primary School in Manurewa posted on its Facebook page that it had gone into lockdown.
“Leabank Primary School has gone into lockdown because of an incident near school. We will continue to provide updates on our Facebook page as often as possible.
“Please do not come to the school or phone the school as you will not be attended to and this may cause disruption to the management of this incident and could potentially place yourselves and/or our staff and student’s safety at risk.
“All further updates will be provided on the school website.”
