Two men were arrested at the weekend in relation to a firearms incident in Papakura last week, Detective Inspector Shaun Vickers (Counties Manukau CIB) confirms.
“A 26-year-old man has been charged with discharging a firearm with reckless disregard, assaults police and breach of EM bail,” he says.
“A 32-year-old man has also been charged with being a party to discharging a firearm with reckless disregard and unlawful possession of two firearms.”
Both are due to appear in Manukau District Court today.
Police were called to Hill Crescent on Thursday (July 23) following reports that a firearm had been discharged.
“Thankfully no one was injured as a result of this reckless behaviour, and two firearms have also been recovered,” Vickers adds.
“We would still like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have information that could assist the investigation.”
