Warriors fans heading to Eden Park on Sunday (September 20) can prepare their pregame roadies as the new City Rail Link (CRL) will offer free travel for stadium-goers.
Much like the BNZ Breakers supporters, Warriors’ fans bound for the finals match against the Newcastle Knights can show their match-day ticket to train or bus staff and board for free.
Given that the finals match was confirmed at short notice, there will be fewer extra event trains running.
Todd Hurley from Auckland Traffic Operations Centre (ATOC) says extra buses will be running to the city, which will also be included with match tickets.
“With 45,000 fans expected, the network will be busy before and after the match,” Hurley says.
“We’re asking the Wahs’ faithful to check the AT Journey Planner or AT Mobile app before they travel, allow plenty of time, and follow staff directions after the final whistle so everyone can get home safely.”
Franklin travellers can catch South City Line trains into the city centre and transfer to an East West Line train to Kingsland Station.
Free travel on trains and buses will start at 1.00pm, with the stadium gates opening at 4.15pm, and transport will run until the end of daily services on Sunday evening.
The Outer Oval fan zone will also open from 1.00pm, where attendees can enjoy music, face painting, food and more before kick-off at 6.05pm.
