Auckland Transport (AT) is backing the BNZ Breakers as the four-time champs chase another NBL crown, starting this Sunday (September 20) against the Illawarra Hawks at Spark Arena.
AT and the Breakers have partnered for all 14 home games this season, allowing all ticket holders and members to travel free to Spark Arena on AT buses and trains using their game ticket.
Free travel will be available from two hours prior to doors opening through to the end of daily public transport services.
Passengers need to show their game-day ticket to AT staff when boarding and keep it for the journey home.
Breakers chief executive Troy Georgiu says the partnership is a win for the club’s loyal fans.
“This is a great collaboration with AT that enhances the game day experience for our fans and encourages families to make the journey to Spark Arena from anywhere in Auckland,” Georgiu says.
AT chief executive Stacey van der Putten says the partnership is an exciting step forward in encouraging the public to use public transport.
“The Breakers are one of New Zealand’s most popular and successful sports teams, and we are proud to support them and their fans as they chase a fifth NBL title,” she says.
“With the opening of the City Rail Link, travelling to major event venues in Auckland like Spark Arena is faster and easier than ever.”
Those travelling from South Auckland AT can catch the South City Line (S-C) to Waitematā Station which runs between Pukekohe and Newmarket.
From East Auckland, passengers can take the East West Line (E-W) from Manukau Station to Waitematā Station.
