One person is dead as a result of a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2, Mangatāwhiri.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 11.10pm last night. On arrival, they confirmed that one person was deceased.
As road closures have been in place between the intersection with SH11 and Koheroa Road, motorists should check before heading out in this area.
The Serious Crash Unit has conducted a scene examination and enquiries into the crash are in process.
UPDATE: Koheroa Road is now (8:58am) open but SH2 near the crash site remains closed, police have now confirmed to the Times.
