A groovy fundraiser is again set to be a hit, helping raise money for the South Auckland Riding for the Disabled (RDA). Beats by Bingo was so popular last year, that RDA is playing it again!
On July 25, the event is intended to take us back to the disco era, the soaring seventies, while supporting the good work of a local charity.
On the night, people can expect plenty of fun, food and beverages while dressing up in seventies’ clothing and strutting their stuff, as RDA administrator Alison Orchard explains.
“There will be prizes for each of the five bingo rounds, some spot prizes and a prize for the best dressed as well as raffles and a silent auction. One of the rounds will be music from the 1970s, but one of them might be love songs, for example.”
The RDA is a well-supported charity, but as horses aren’t cheap to keep, every little helps. The organisation provides equine assisted therapy for disabled people that can be invaluable.
“There is so much growth in our riders. Some come to learn social skills, or how to follow instructions and communicate,” Orchard says. “Some people are learning how to use core strength to sit up and learn physical coordination. It’s all beneficial.”
