The latest 1News Verian political poll released today, June 23, shows New Zealand’s two major parties losing support with voters.
The National Party is down one per cent to 29 per cent while the Labour Party is down five per cent to 32 per cent.
The Green Party is up two per cent to 13 per cent. New Zealand First is up one per cent to 11 per cent.
The ACT Party is down one per cent to six per cent.
The Opportunity Party is up 1.3 per cent to 4.6 per cent, just shy of the five per cent party vote threshold needed to enter Parliament under the MMP electoral system.
Te Pati Māori is up 0.3 per cent to 1.8 per cent.
These numbers give the left political bloc of Labour, the Greens and Te Pati Māori 64 seats in Parliament, which is enough to form a Government.
The right bloc of National, New Zealand First and ACT would have 60 seats.
In the preferred prime minister poll, National Party leader and Botany MP Christopher Luxon is up two per cent to 18 per cent.
Labour Party leader Chris Hipkins is down three per cent to 16 per cent.
New Zealand First leader Winston Peters is down two per cent to 10 per cent.
Green Party co-leader Chlöe Swarbrick is unchanged on six per cent. ACT leader David Seymour is also unchanged on four per cent.
This year’s general election will be held on Saturday, November 7.
