Life Education Trust Counties Manukau’s good work will go a little further – four new vehicles will make it easier for its educators to spread their message.
Operating since 1988, the organisation offers programmes in east and south Auckland schools addressing issues such as mental health, obesity, bullying and vaping.
On July 9, its staff and distinctive mascot, Harold the Giraffe, received the keys to four fully sponsored vehicles from Manukau Toyota. This includes a Toyota RAV4 from the Manukau dealership and three Yaris Cross GXs from the Botany, Papakura and Pukekohe dealerships.
Manukau Toyota Group’s relationship with the trust began through Pukekohe Toyota, which supported the organisation with contributions over several years.
In 2019, this relationship was expanded across the wider business, supporting Life Education events, providing a vehicle, and offering ongoing financial help. The added assistance follows an event earlier this year, Toyota’s Ali Guise confirms.
“Members of the Manukau Toyota Group team sat in on a Life Education class. The visit reinforced the value of the programme, with the team seeing first-hand the passion of the educators and the joy it brought to the children taking part.”
As a result, the group has now provided fully branded and, aside from fuel, fully funded vehicles for educators travelling with mobile classrooms to schools.
“Manukau Toyota Group will also continue to support Life Education through community activities and awareness-building opportunities,” Guise says. “The partnership reflects the group’s commitment to organisations making a meaningful difference for children, families and communities across Counties Manukau.”
The vehicles will be invaluable, the trust’s Kelvin Ricketts explains.
“It’s going to help big time, especially with fundraising. It gets our name out there, showing that we’re not one of these charities that start today and is gone in two years’ time.
“We really appreciate it,” he said to Toyota. “I thank all of your dealer principals from the four branches.”
