Police say they have caught two men at the same time – one in Feilding, one in Manurewa – during coordinated searches of houses in Manawatū and Auckland, for drugs and firearms.
Detective Sergeant Nick Lawton says investigations discovered alleged drug and firearm dealing had occurred between the two locations, so search warrants were carried out on Friday, August 8.
Police say they seized cannabis, methamphetamine, $5000 cash, a 3D .22 pistol and ammunition.
“We arrested a 45-year-old man in Feilding who has been charged with possession and supply of meth, and in Manurewa we arrested a 47-year-old man who has been charged with unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition,” Lawton says.
“Further charges are likely as the investigation continues into electronic devices.
“In addition, we also located a woman who we’ve been wanting to connect with about a number of shoplifting incidents.”
Lawton says police are pleased with the outcome of these collaborative efforts.
“This was an excellent result from multiple officers.
“We were assisted by the Armed Offenders Squad, Offender Prevention Team and Criminal Investigation Branch.”
