Thousands are expected to flock to the Clevedon Agricultural & Pastoral Show this weekend, with organisers promising a “bigger and better” line-up of family entertainment,
competitions, and rural favourites.
Last year’s show drew around 6500 visitors, and organisers are hoping for similar or greater numbers this year. Dogs are once again welcome, continuing the show’s reputation as one of Auckland’s most family-friendly rural events.
Held at 107 Monument Road, Clevedon, the two-day event runs from 9am to 5pm on Saturday, November 15 and from 9am to 4pm on Sunday, November 16.
The weekend’s programme features everything from horse and cattle competitions to gumboot throwing, shearing and milking demonstrations, and vintage tractor rides.
Younger visitors can enjoy puppet and magic shows, a bubble party and lolly scramble, pony rides, a farmyard animal zone, and plenty of amusements.
Organisers told the Franklin Times that a new highlight this year is the expanded Andre Vegas Magic & Illusion Show, joined by Felicity Rogers’ magic and puppetry, along with live music from the Lincoln Dues Duo Band and MeloDivas Trio.
Equestrian events will again take centre stage, with working hunter, carriage, and rider
classes across multiple rings. Organisers say the horse section faced challenges earlier in the season but is now confirmed to go ahead as planned.
Strongman competitions, dog trials, and fire brigade displays will round out the weekend
alongside classic favourites like the Clevedon Axemen’s Club and the Cookie Bear
Roadshow.
