To celebrate Te Wiki o te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week), Pic’s Peanut Butter is back with a jar that’s got plenty to say.
Pic’s Pata Pīnati Kakukaku – the reo Māori edition of its classic Crunchy Peanut Butter – is hitting shelves to spark a bit of kōrero in the kitchen.
It’s timed to coincide with this year’s Māori Language Week, which runs from September 15-22.
First launched in 2018, this year’s batch will be the most widespread yet, available in supermarkets nationwide for the month of September, and online all year round.
Made in Whakatū Nelson, Pic’s Peanut Butter is proud to use its iconic glass jar to help spread the word for Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, chief executive Aimee McCammon says.
“We’re a company with deep respect for our community and culture, so it’s awesome to introduce Pic’s Pata Pīnati Kakukaku as part of our permanent range,” she says.
“The groundswell of support for this special jar since it first launched seven years ago says a lot about the way our country is evolving.
“It’s more than just a jar of peanut butter, it’s a symbol of a bigger conversation we’re proud to be part of.”
Chief peanut butter maker, Pic Picot, says the business is proud to continue supporting te reo Māori in a meaningful, everyday way.

To help bring Pic’s Pata Pīnati Kakukaku to life, author, presenter and foodie creator Naomi Toilalo has created two special recipes.
They’re Keke Papatahi Wītipīki me te Pata Pīnati (Weetbix and Peanut Butter Slice) and Te Keke Kakukaku (Crunch Slice).
Pic’s Pata Pīnati Peanut Butter is available in supermarkets.
