The world may be going through big changes, but small changes really do add up when it comes to sustainability.
The Healthy Home, Healthy Planet Expo (on September 26, 10am to 2pm) will help Frankliners help the environment, Sandy McGivern-Butler-Moore from Waiuku Zero Waste confirms.
“There are so many small changes we can make around the home that can save money, reduce waste and make our homes healthier at the same time,” she says.
“We want people to have a chat, ask questions and discover something practical that works for them. You don’t need to change everything – finding one useful idea and giving it a go is a great place to start.”
This free event is intended to offer something for everyone interested in creating healthier homes, saving money and living more sustainably.
Stalls, activities and demonstrations will cover topics including energy saving, reducing waste, repairing and reusing, recycling, composting and growing food as well as sustainable transport and local environmental action.
While the first event was held in Waiuku in August, this time it’s Pukekohe’s turn to host at the PIA Events Centre, Waiuku Zero Waste GM Sue Wallis adds.
“We’re particularly excited to bring the expo to Pukekohe and connect with a different part of Franklin. There are already so many people, organisations and community groups doing great things locally, and this is an opportunity to bring some of those connections together in one place.”
