As parents with children at our rural schools would know well, raising a little lamb, chickens, calves or kids, for that matter, is no easy task.
Once again, this September and October schools throughout southern Auckland and northern Waikato will be hosting calf club, country life, ag days, pet days and the like.
While many will be rearing animals, others will share what they have learned recently about rural life through projects.
We will be looking to run a list of events in our next paper with photo pages to follow.
So, please send details to info@times.co.nz but be sure to include dates, times, event and school names.
When sending photos, check with your school first to ensure that it is okay for us to publish them.
The Franklin Calf Judges Association will be holding a training day in Pukekohe this Saturday.
Parents, teachers, and children are all welcome. Children are encouraged to bring their calves along so the judges can show what they look for at calf club. These are the judges who will be scoring on Ag Day, so take the opportunity to learn from the experts.
Franklin Calf Judges Association are actively looking for new judges so, if you may be interested, please head along. The time commitment for judging is incredibly minimal and makes a huge impact to so many rural school kids.
