Mai Lighthouse is a leading social services agency across Franklin and North Waikato.
Matariki has returned. The stars have risen, and with them, an ancient invitation – to grieve
what we’ve lost, to celebrate what we have, and to plant seeds of hope for those who will
come after us. In te ao Māori, this is not just a new year. It is a call to turn toward each other.
At Mai Lighthouse, we work every day alongside whānau in Franklin and North Waikato
who are navigating some of life’s hardest moments – family hardship, housing instability, and the quiet struggles that so many carry alone. This Matariki, we’re launching our He Kāinga Haumaru (Safe Home) donation drive – a campaign centred on ensuring whānau have what they need to feel safe, supported, and seen.
This year, we’ve created meaningful gifting options so you can see exactly where your koha
(donation) goes:
- $40 – Medical transport for a whānau member.
- $45 – A wahine hygiene pack
- $100 – A food parcel for a whanau, or one counselling session.
- $250 – Support a whanau for a full month.
- $400 – Four weeks of counselling.
- Your amount – Name your gift, any koha is welcomed with open arms.
Every contribution goes directly into the programmes and people making a real difference in our rohe (area) this winter. And if giving isn’t possible right now — sharing our campaign
with someone who might is just as powerful.
