Archery champs – all bull, on the pull

^{Some of the best in the sport are stepping up to the firing line in Takanini for the World Archery Oceania Championships, April 16–19, tournament organiser Cushla Matheson confirms.}

^{“We won the bid for this tournament six years ago and, now that it’s finally here, we’re beyond excited. It’s fantastic to have ten countries from across the Pacific participating in our continental championships – shooting up a storm.}

^{“Archery is such a watchable sport. At the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, every session sold out and viewership was unprecedented. It’s a sport on the move, and we invite everyone to come on down.”}

^{The competition will serve as a springboard for November’s Youth Olympics in Dakar, the Pacific Games in Tahiti next July and the 2028 LA Olympic Games.}

^{In particular, archery is gaining in popularity throughout the Pacific, Tongan Olympian and president of World Archery Oceania, Arne Jensen, adds.}

^{“The growth of the sport in the Pacific is incredibly pleasing and the resilience of our Pasifika members is humbling as they navigate challenges of distance, connectivity and simply earning a living,” she says.}
