A person is in hospital in a critical condition after a shooting in Papakura early this morning.
Emergency services were called to Maadi Place at around 2.30am following reports someone had sustained a gunshot wound.
Police say those involved are believed to be known to each other, and there is no ongoing risk to the wider community.

Officers responded to the scene overnight and enquiries to locate the offender are under way. A scene guard remains in place this morning.
