Prominent New Zealand psychologist and television programme host Nigel Latta, 58, has died after a battle with cancer.
The sad news was announced on his Facebook page this morning, October 1.
“Farewell my great love,” the post reads. “You were never dying, just living until the moment you weren’t.
“You fought cancer with enormous bravery. You’ve spent your life helping others in need. And now it’s your turn to rest. NF xx.
“On Tuesday the 30th of September Nigel passed away with the same dignity and positivity that he carried through life.
“He will be dearly missed by his wife Natalie, daughter Rina, son Kieran, and three stepchildren Elijah, Maya and Leon.”
Latta was diagnosed with gastric cancer last year after a tumour was found at the base of his stomach.
He said at the time he’d been given between six months to a year to live and the cancer was incurable.
Earlier this year he posted on social media to say his cancer was in remission.
Latta is well known to New Zealanders through his television appearances such as his hosting of the popular TV series Beyond the Darklands, in which he analysed the behaviour of some of New Zealand’s most infamous criminals.
