While the Chiefs are all set to celebrate winning their third Super Rugby title next week, with a mere formality of knocking over the Hurricanes, the Chiefs Manawa have a much tougher task to tackle.
For the team’s first home game of the Super Rugby Aupiki season tomorrow (Sunday), head coach Dwayne Sweeney has selected an imposing lineup to take on the Blues.
The disappointing first round loss to Matatū in Christchurch last weekend will serve as extra motivation, he expects.
“This week our focus has been on learning from last week and regaining the confidence we had in pre-season,” he says. “We have the talent and skills to go all the way, and we’re focused on looking forward.”
In the backs, Counties Heat midfielder, Shoshanah Seumanutafa, is expected to do her home team proud. However, the Blues have wisely signed a number of Heat players, including the highly talented wing, Jaymie Kolose.
