Spider-Man: Brand New Day sees a record-breaking return for the friendly neighbourhood superhero in every way fans could possibly want.
After the events of No Way Home, Peter is all by himself and that’s for the best.
As much as I liked his best friend Ned, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s (MCU) rendition of MJ never gripped like other Spider-Man love interests, aside from Holland and Zendaya’s obvious chemistry.
But due to this isolation, it allows for Spider-Man to play off of new characters. Whether that’s Bernthal, Colón-Zayas or Ruffalo, this street-level story feels massive.
Spider-Man’s best relationship is with Sadie Sink’s MCU debut.
Through this interpretation of Sink’s character, the film is able to connect our hero and villain through grief and pain, forming an unlikely bond.
The film also looks better than previous Holland Spider Man movies.
After working on The Odyssey, Holland took that experience to make Brand New Day as good as possible.
The colour grading looks less washed out, the cinematography is more inspired, and the swinging is more immersive.
Overall, everything about Brand New Day feels more passionate.
