A driver put his foot in it last night after he ran from police before allegedly being located with methamphetamine in his sock.
Shortly after 11pm last night, June 28, officers stopped a Nissan Note travelling on Māngere Road, Ōtāhuhu.
The driver ignored instructions to remain inside the vehicle and fled on foot, says acting Senior Sergeant Jo Hunkin, Counties Manukau Police.
“Ground units attempted to locate the man, before calling in the assistance of the Police Eagle Helicopter overhead. Eagle quickly identified the suspect hiding in the bushes of an industrial site.”
The man was arrested and taken to Manukau Police Station where he was found in be in breach of his bail conditions.
“A search of his person located a zip lock bag of white powder in the man’s sock,” Hunkin adds. “The bag was seized to be destroyed.”
A 39-year-old is set to appear in Manukau District Court today charged with failure to remain stopped, possession of methamphetamine and breach of bail.
