Road closures and detours will be in place on State Highway 1 (SH1) between Ramarama and Bombay during May and June as new median barriers are installed.
The barriers will improve safety, the New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA) expects.
Temporary barriers are being installed on the northbound median until Wednesday May 6, 9pm to 5am. A full northbound closure will be in place at night for the installation.
From Sunday May 10 until mid-June, full southbound closures will be required Sundays to Thursdays between 9pm and 5am to create a safe working environment.
When the closures are in place, motorists will be detoured via Great South Road.
During the southbound closures, an overhead electronic sign will be installed near Runciman Road.
