A new connection promises to deliver more power to the people, Counties Energy’s chief executive, Judy Nicholl, asserts.
“This is exactly the type of outcome we envisioned when we announced our partnership earlier this year,” she says about a move to partner with King Country-based distributor, The Lines Company (TLC)
“It brings together the strengths of two organisations, enables teams to learn from one another and proves that collaboration can deliver real benefits in months rather than years.”
One such benefit began earlier this year as the two companies pooled skills to develop a new outage portal for TLC based on Counties Energy’s tried and true model.
The result is that both organisations now have modern platforms providing real-time information.
This project is a great example of what’s possible when organisations focus less on ownership and more on outcomes,” Nicholl says.
“The Outage Portal provides a strong foundation for future shared platform initiatives across both organisations.”
More collaboration is expected, TLC’s chief executive Mike Fox confirms.
“Beyond the outage portal, our partnership model is scalable and transferable. The same principles that enabled this project can be applied to other initiatives and, potentially, across other businesses.”
This includes welcoming expertise from other EDB (electricity distribution business) partners too.
“Since launching our outage portal, we’ve received interest from other EDBs wanting to learn more about how such an approach can benefit them,” adds Fox.
“That’s encouraging, not because it’s about the technology itself, but because it’s
evidence that collaboration done well can create momentum across the sector.”
By sharing platforms, knowledge and capability, these organisations will reduce duplication, lower development costs and accelerate delivery while delivering the best possible value for
customers, the pair expects.
