REMAX Stars will host a Pink Ribbon High Tea at Pokeno Town Hall, May 16, to raise funds for the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Co-owner of REMAX Stars, Lisa Walden, says she and her staff enjoy hosting high teas for such a worthy cause.
“We love doing it. It’s fun, and it brings the community together,” she says. “It’s just lovely, and we all get stuck in and work together as a team to put it all together.”
Bubbles will be available on arrival and attendees can enjoy tea, scones and muffins. Representatives from numerous local businesses will be present.
The event is one of many running in the lead up to Pink Ribbon Breakfast Day on May 21.
The Breast Cancer Foundation NZ’s largest annual fundraiser, Pink Ribbon Breakfasts make a huge difference for people affected by breast cancer, the foundation’s chief executive Ah-Leen Rayner says.
“It’s wonderful to see the return of this much-loved fixture in Pokeno. It’s a beautiful example of people coming together in connection and community spirit to support a cause that touches so many lives.
“We know many households are feeling the pressures of rising living costs right now, but Pink Ribbon Breakfasts don’t have to be fancy or expensive. They can be as simple as morning tea at home or work, or a catch-up at a local cafe. What’s important is coming together, because every effort counts.”
Approximately 1100 women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year across Auckland. Hosting a Pink Ribbon Breakfast is a meaningful way to support them and to fund research and early detection, Rayner adds.
