Pokeno Bacon has once again added to its ever-growing pile of accolades thanks to the 2026 NZ Bacon and Ham Awards.
Pokeno Bacon has received a handful of medals alongside the People’s Choice Award, all adding to yet another milestone shining light on their success.
Brothers Ben and Patrick Clotworthy are upholding the family legacy after taking over the award-winning business from their parents, Helen and John.
“We’re honouring the tradition our parents started,” Ben Clotworthy says. “We’ve seen the hard work that they have put into the business over the years and we’re now really happy to be running the company.”
The brothers have learnt many tricks of the trade from their parents whose commitment has been the backbone of this local business’ success, Ben says.
One secret to their success isn’t so much a secret, but it has helped the company trump competitors year after year – authentic processing methods.
“The method we use is traditional, so we don’t cut corners and we definitely don’t pump anything full of rubbish,” he explains. “We use fresh New Zealand pork and we reckon that’s one of our secrets.”
Next year marks the business’s 50th anniversary, another achievement the brothers are proud to celebrate as they carry the family business’ legacy forward into its second generation.
“We’re super happy about that,” adds Ben. “We put in a lot of effort, which is shown by how much our customers support us – they think we do an amazing job.”
With another haul of medals, Pokeno Bacon’s trophy cabinet keeps filling up and its winning streak shows no sign of slowing down.
