Five Franklin farms are set to become part of a fundraising safari this weekend.
The Manukau 4WD Club is hosting the Ararimu R&R Safari to raise money for the Ararimu Hall sound stage.
The safari will take participants to five local farms where they will get the chance to see the Ararimu countryside. Lunch is provided, and spot prizes will be given on the day.
The safari is suitable for all automatic or manual transmission 4WD vehicles. The majority of the routes are considered quite easy farm tracks and paddocks, although there will be a chance for what the club calls “more challenging alternative routes.”
The Manukau 4WD Club has been operating for over 30 years, with its primary aim being to promote the safe and responsible use of 4WD vehicles.
A club spokesperson said that, as a long-time part of the community, the club believes in giving back, with many of their trips being fundraisers for many things in the area, including the Westpac Helicopter Trust.
They are also involved with civil defence in their area and have relationships South Auckland branch of the organisation Forest and Bird.
The club also provides vehicles to Forest and Bird for clean-ups and rubbish removal on nature reserves that Forest and Bird own.
The safari begins on November 15 from 8am to 5pm and starts at the Anderson Farm in Ararimu.
