Sensational new entertainment complex Game Over was given a test drive by Formula 1 motor-racing driver, Pukekohe’s Liam Lawson
On a special early-bird tour of the giant modern-era centre at Pakūranga town centre, Lawson had the honour of being the first person to take a spin on the international-class go-kart track as Game Over was being constructed and fitted out earlier this year.
Racing Bulls F1 star Lawson and Game Over Pakūranga co-owner Daniel Gaunt, who has been a successful motor-racing competitor for many years, are longtime friends.
Gaunt says Lawson always has lunch with his grandmother at Pakūranga Plaza when he’s back home and off duty from Formula 1 duties.
During the summer while Game Over was being built Lawson took to the track, which was installed by a specialist team from Italy and it’s the first multi-level go-kart course of its kind in New Zealand.
Game Over Pakūranga is owned by Game Over East Auckland Ltd, with Gaunt and well-known motor-racing entrepreneur Tony Quinn the directors. They also have Game Over centres at Albany on Auckland’s North Shore, and in Christchurch.
The selection of entertainment and leisure options is extensive, from go-karting and challenging raised obstacle course to a Wild West-styled mini golf course designed by a person connected to Weta Workshops, ten-pin bowling lanes and Ninja City attractions.
Gaunt told the Times for some time he’s been interested in opening a Game Over in east Auckland.
Community leaders on a recent tour of Game Over Pakūranga included Pakūranga MP Simeon Brown, Auckland councillor for Howick Bo Burns, Howick Local Board chair Bruce Kendall, and most other local board members.
