A pedestrian has been killed on the Waikato Expressway, police have confirmed.
As reported this morning, police were called to a crash at Ōhinewai involving a vehicle and a pedestrian at approximately 7am.
The speed limit on this section of the expressway is 110 kilometres per hour, however police are unable to comment regarding the speed of the vehicle at this stage. Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
The expressway remains closed southbound from Te Kauwhata while the Serious Crash Unit conducts a scene examination.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
