Class 5 Truck & Trailer Driver – Construction Industry (Tipping)

Troydon Contractors Ltd. is a trusted civil contracting company based in South Auckland, delivering high-quality results across a wide range of civil projects. We’re on the lookout for a skilled Class 5 Truck and Trailer Driver to join our team.
About the Role: This role involves operating a variety of trucks (primarily bin units) to cart aggregate from quarries to worksites and remove materials to dedicated locations across the region. You’ll also assist in machinery transport and load your own truck using machinery when needed. Experience in civil projects, machinery, and compliance within commercial quarries and disposal sites is essential.
Qualifications and Experience
- NZQF Level 2 or 3 qualification (ANZSCO Skill Level 4)
- At least one year of relevant experience may substitute for the formal qualifications listed above. In some instances relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
- Registration or licensing is required – NZ Drivers Licence Classes 1 – 5 (Class 3 not essential)
Tasks and Attributes
- Manoeuvring vehicles into position for loading and unloading.
- Loading and unloading vehicles using lifting and tipping devices.
- Observing safety requirements when loading and unloading vehicles.
- Making regular quality checks of vehicles to ensure they can be driven safely.
- Estimating weights to comply with load limitations and ensuring safe distribution of weight.
- Ensuring goods are stowed and securely covered to prevent loss and damage.
- Verifying loading documents, checking condition of goods and obtaining certification of deliveries.
- Flexible, well-organised, and able to work unsupervised.
- Takes pride in their vehicle – basic truck maintenance required.
- Physically fit and capable of working in all weather conditions.
- Reliable, professional, and has a can-do attitude.
- Excellent communication, tidy work habits, and trustworthy.
Additional Requirements:
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
- Be prepared for random on-site drug testing.
- Some sites may require police background checks.
- SiteSafe Civil Passport (can be obtained once employed)
- Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa.
- Referees and previous work history are required.
- Able to complete digital paperwork (will be trained on job)
