Police are monitoring the convoy of gang members travelling across Auckland for the funeral of Senior King Cobra member Ulaiasi (Rocky) Pulete), who died on August 29.
It is understood the 57 year-old died after a long health battle.
“Police will be closely monitoring the movements of those travelling across Tāmaki Makaurau for a funeral this week, Waitematā West Area Prevention Manager,” Inspector Kelly Farrant told the Franklin Times.
She says motorists can expect to see a large number of gang members and associates travelling around the region throughout Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
“We’re reminding all those who are travelling on our roads to not act in any way that can put yourself and other road users at risk.”
Police will be monitoring to ensure the safety of the community, to monitor traffic movement and to minimise any disruption to the public.
“We will also be investigating any unlawful behaviour, and where enforcement action can not be taken at the time, expect our staff to follow up.”
“If you have concerns for your safety, or witness any illegal behaviour from those involved, please call 111 immediately,” Farrant says.

In 2009, after a lengthy police investigation, Pulete was charged, along with more than a dozen other people over his involvement with drug ring centred around Auckland’s maximum security Prison at Paremoremo.
The Otago Daily Times reported in 2009 that police alleged Ulaisi “Rocky” Pulete was directing the supply and distribution of the drug, methamphetamine.
