A biscuit decorating challenge is set to take place at BestStart’s Reynolds Green early learning centre in Pukekohe on National Dunk Day, September 22.
The event is one of three September fundraising activities across the North Island supporting Dunk it for Plunket, a shared campaign between Whānau Āwhinā Plunket, Arnott’s and BestStart.
Senior leaders from all three organisations will take part in the challenges, with BestStart chief executive Fiona Hughes and Plunket chief executive Fiona Kingsford planning to join in the biscuit decorating event.
Kingsford says the campaign reflects the power of communities banding together for a shared purpose.
“Next year Plunket celebrates 120 years of walking alongside New Zealand families,” she says.
“We’re incredibly proud of that history, but we’re equally focused on the future,” Kingsford says. “We want to ensure Plunket is here for the next 120 years, supporting Tamariki and whanau wherever and whenever they need us.”
Plunket relies on donors, fundraisers and partners to help fund 80 per cent of the services they provide for whanau across the country.
BestStart’s Fiona Hughes says supporting the campaign is a natural fit.
“At BestStart we are focused on improving outcomes for tamariki, helping them to thrive in both their education and health journey, and that’s something we have in common with Plunket,” says Hughes.
Similarly, Mike Cullerne from Arnott’s says the campaign is one they are proud to stand alongside.
“Dunk it for Plunket has become a much-loved fundraising campaign that we’ve supported for eight years, because it’s a fun and engaging way for people to get involved while supporting an important cause,” he says.
The Dunk it for Plunket campaign invites New Zealanders to host their own fundraising events, take on challenges, or donate in support of families across the country.
