An investigation continues into a fatality at the Baldwin Avenue rail level crossing on Wednesday afternoon, police say.
A teenage boy died after being struck by a train at approximately 3.30pm on September 9 at the Mt Albert location.
Police say they’re investigating the death on behalf of the Coroner.
They say they’re not yet able to release information about the boy that died yesterday.
“This is a tragic event for our community, and our thoughts are with his family today who are coming to terms with what has happened,” says inspector Jacqui Whittaker, the Auckland City West Police area commander.
“I know the community will have them in their thoughts as well.
“We extend our sympathies to the Mt Albert Grammar School community who are grieving.
“Our school community officer is engaged with the school and supporting them.”
Anyone who has not yet spoken to police, and witnessed yesterday’s event, are encouraged to come forward, Whittaker says.
“I know there were many students also leaving school for the day that saw what happened.
“For parents, please ensure you’re in contact with your school and ensure appropriate welfare support is made available for your children.”
