A 39-year-old man appeared in court yesterday after stealing industrial panel lights from a commercial building.
On Monday night (August 17), a security company monitoring the site on Kerrs Road in Wiri notified police of the man seen entering the building via CCTV footage.
“The building is currently under construction, units were quickly on the scene, and Eagle was overhead in minutes,” says acting Senior Sergeant Jane Cornish from Counties Manukau Police.
After blocking the man from leaving, police were told he was there to play soccer.
“Inside the van was a number of industrial panel lights that matched those used in the building,” Cornish says. “A further search of the vehicle also uncovered an amount of methamphetamine, cannabis and a meth pipe.
“This man has not learnt his lesson so will now head to court and explain his actions.”
