The victim of a shooting in Port Waikato last night is in serious but stable condition, police have now confirmed.
As reported earlier, police were called to a house on Centreway Road, Port Waikato, at approximately 8.30pm last night, responding to report that a person had been injured.
“Upon arrival, police located the victim, who had an injury consistent with a gunshot wound,” says Detective Inspector Karen Bright (Counties Manukau CIB).
“The victim was taken to hospital in a serious but stable condition, where they remain.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances around what has occurred. All parties involved are believed to be known to each other and there it is not believed there is a risk to the public.”
Hato Hone St John attended the scene with an ambulance, a helicopter and two rapid response vehicles.
“One patient was assessed at the scene and was transported to Middlemore Hospital (by ambulance) in a moderate condition,” a spokesperson told the Times.
