In efforts to help young performers find their voice, The Clevedon Valley Music Foundation Trust is set to hold the next event in its Sunday Serenades Series, Crosscurrents – Jazz and Stage Converge.
The trust was founded by Gina Sanders, a musician looking to encourage young musicians to showcase their skills alongside a wide variety of other artists, trust member Bernice Potter says.
“We’re talking about art, dancing, or anything within the art community. It’s essentially about promoting awareness of high-quality music and art in accessible venues for everyone.
“We’re giving performers opportunities, especially those wanting to become professionals, and we also assist worthy causes through fundraising events.”
Held on June 7 at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Clevedon, the next event will again see music help form connections.
“It’s all about supporting up-and-coming artists, kids and young adults and sharing some high-quality music with the community,” Potter adds.
The day-long programme will feature performers from Pukekohe High School as well as Saem Millward, Olivia Duan, Gianna and Ariane Cordeiro. Their music is intended to move seamlessly between jazz, contemporary classics and expressive vocal performance.
