Hoodmaster Limited – Builder

Builder HoodMaster Limited Full-time – 35 hours per week Hourly Rate: $30.00 per hour Location: Tuakau

HoodMaster is a New Zealand manufacturer specialising in commercial kitchen ventilation equipment and associated fabricated products.

We are looking for an experienced Builder to join our manufacturing and workshop team. This is a practical, hands-on role where traditional building and construction skills are applied within a specialist manufacturing environment.

Tasks Include:

• Read and interpret drawings, sketches, plans and manufacturing specifications.
• Measure, mark out and set out materials and components accurately prior to construction and assembly.
• Select and prepare appropriate timber, sheet materials and other materials required for manufacturing and assembly work.
• Construct and maintain timber jigs, templates, frames and supports used in the manufacture and assembly of custom products.
• Construct timber crates, frames and protective packaging for finished commercial equipment.
• Cut, shape and assemble materials using appropriate hand and power tools.
• Assist with the construction and assembly of commercial kitchen range hoods, ventilation equipment and other manufactured products.
• Fit, align, fasten and assemble manufactured components in accordance with drawings and specifications.
• Check dimensions, levels, alignment and finished assemblies to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Carry out drilling, cutting, fastening, fixing and general construction and assembly work.
• Assist with stainless-steel component assembly and other specialist manufacturing processes as required.
• Assist with the development and manufacture of new products incorporating timber, sheet materials, metal components and fabricated assemblies.
• Assist with installation, alteration and modification of manufactured equipment where required.
• Maintain and repair workshop jigs, frames, fixtures and other manufacturing aids.
• Maintain tools and equipment and ensure work areas are kept safe and organised.
• Work collaboratively with other trades and production staff to complete custom manufacturing projects.
• Carry out other reasonable building, manufacturing and assembly duties consistent with the employee’s skills and experience.

Skills and Experience

• At least 3 years previous experience in building, carpentry, construction or a related trade.
• Strong measuring, setting-out and practical construction skills.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, plans and specifications.
• Competence using common building, carpentry and workshop hand and power tools.
• Good practical problem-solving skills.
• High standards of accuracy and workmanship.
• Ability to apply building skills within a manufacturing and workshop environment.
• Experience with metal or stainless-steel fabrication would be advantageous but is not essential, as product-specific training will be provided.
• Full Drivers Licence
